The geological map of the Hokusai quadrangle of Mercury was recently shortlisted for the Journal of Maps ‘Best Map Award 2019’. Making it to the top ten is a great achievement for the author Jack Wright and for the PLANMAP project, as a great example of the mapping quality we are committed to.

Here a brief statement from Jack:

Linné boulders paper published!

Paper

The first study on the size-frequency distribution (SFD) of the ejected boulders surrounding the Linné crater (Moon) has been published by PlanMap consortium members and affiliated researchers. Through the use of the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Camera images, the team has prepared the first high-resolution geological map of the studied area, located in northwestern Mare Serenitatis.

Apollo Basin paper published!

Paper

A new geological map of Apollo Basin on the Moon has been published by PlanMap consortium members and affiliated researchers. In the plain English summary of the work, the team describes their geological analyses of the northern portion of the South Pole-Aitken basin, which is the largest recognized and likely the oldest impact structure on the Moon.
